Top 5 Questions To Ask The Sales Team

Top 5 Questions To Ask The Sales Team banner

If you head into the dealership for a browse, our sales team will likely ask you a bunch of questions to help narrow down your choice. At some point you might hear them ask, "do you have any questions?" If you find that you've suddenly forgotten every question you had now that you're put on the spot, don't worry! We have five easy questions that you can refer back to the next time you're approached by our friendly staff at one of our Crick’s dealerships.

A great car salesperson listens to your needs and answers your questions honestly. Buying a car is a big investment and they are here to make sure you make the best choice possible.

If you're right at the beginning of your journey it could be beneficial to read our Everything You Need to Know Before Buying a New Car article or take our Which Car Is Right For You quiz that helps you narrow down what you're looking for.

Okay, so now that you have a rough idea, let's get down to our list of the top 5 questions to ask your salesperson

1. Is the car I want in stock?

Before you start planning the process of switching out your old car for new, you'll want to check if there is a wait period for your car to be delivered to the dealership. Depending on the popularity of the vehicle it could take weeks or perhaps months in the current climate. Your sales team will be able to give you an idea of when the car will be delivered, and can direct you to models in stock if you want to drive away today. It's good to check this straight up, so the sales consultant can tailor the conversation to suit your needs.

2. Does the car have logbooks and a good service history?

If you’re buying used, ask to see the logbook and service history of the car, this is a great indicator as to whether the car has been maintained properly and if you're going to have any issues down the track. However, if you're picking up an older used vehicle, it's possible a complete backdated logbook is not going to be available.

3. What are my payment options?

Often how you will pay for the car might be the last thing you consider. In actual fact, it's great to consider this upfront as it may affect how much you choose to spend. With interest rates as low as they currently are, you might even be able to access more money than you thought. Your sales consultant can connect you with one of our experienced Business Managers, who can talk you through all of your options and get the ball rolling on a finance application.

4. What safety features come standard with this model?

Your salesperson can walk you through all of the technical safety features that you might have.. probably.. most definitely just scrolled past, straight to the colour selection part. From the number of airbags to ANCAP safety ratings and automatic emergency braking systems, they will be able to give you the full rundown, should you ask for it. If you have a family, safety might be one of your key priorities, and in this case you may want to consider upgrading to a higher spec model to access all of the safety features. This conversation can also lead to additional warranties and service packages you may wish to add on.

5. Can I take it for a test drive?

We can answer that one for you right here – of course! In fact, we encourage it. You don't really know a car until you've had an opportunity to get yourself behind the wheel, that way you can compare how it drives to your other top picks.
